Diagnosing Your Brake Problems

It's important that your brakes work properly to keep you safe on the road. Finishline Auto Repair can promptly diagnose the safety and reliability of your braking system. Rely on us to determine if your brake pads need replacement, why your brake light is on, or why your vehicle isn't slowing down as quickly as it should. Call to schedule service.

Various Brake Services Are Available

  • Anti-lock brake system (ABS): Anti-lock brakes ensure that your wheels don't stop rotating when you're braking. This provides greater control by keeping your car from skidding. If the ABS light comes on, we can diagnose and fix the issue.
  • Brake fluid flushes: Over time, brake fluid will absorb water out of the air. This causes the brake fluid to become corrosive, possibly damaging the system and making it less effective. Regular fluid flushes are important.
  • Brake hoses: The brake hose carries pressurized brake fluid to the brakes from the master cylinder. If the hose is crushed, the system can lag. If there is a leak, the brake or the entire system can fail. Hoses should be replaced at the first sign of a crack or wear.
  • Brake pad and shoe replacement: If your brakes are squealing, there is probably a problem with the brake pads. You'll hear a grinding of metal on metal when they deteriorate completely. This means you're ruining your rotors or drums. While those who are knowledgeable in auto repair can fix these issues at home, it's best if you bring your car to our repair professionals.
  • Caliper replacement: Brake calipers house your brake pads, fitting around the rotor like a clamp and pressing the pads to the rotor as you brake. When there is a problem with the calipers, it can cause uneven braking, causing your car to slide forward when you brake or to slide out of control in bad weather.
  • Rotor replacement: Rotors are attached to your vehicle's wheels in a disc brake system. The brake pad grips the rotors, bringing the rotor and wheels to a stop. The friction of this action causes cracks and grooves to appear in the rotors over time, causing squealing and wobbling. Replacing the rotors will fix this issue.
